Join the HBS Club for an evening discussion with the Honorable Andre G. Bouchard, Chancellor of the Court of Chancery of Delaware. Learn about Delaware’s role in the business law universe, where the revered Delaware Chancery Court is THE recognized and highly-respected arbiter of business case law not only for Delaware but effectively for the whole nation, and even beyond.

The Delaware Court of Chancery, a national leader in corporate law, is a non-jury trial court that serves as Delaware's court of original and exclusive equity jurisdiction, and adjudicates a wide variety of cases involving trusts, real property, guardianships, civil rights, and commercial litigation. In addition to Mr. Bouchard, the Court of Chancery also consists of four additional Vice Chancellors of Delaware hearing cases for that distinct bench.

The Harvard Club of Delaware and the HBS Club of Philadelphia – as co-sponsors of this special event – are happy to announce that our venue for the evening is the prominent law office of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, occupying the magnificently refitted historic former Courthouse situated on Wilmington’s Rodney Square. We also will be inviting graduates of other prominent business schools and law schools in the region to attend as partner guests with our Clubs.

Of note is that our speaker, Andre Bouchard received his J.D. from Harvard Law School. The Chancellor will be giving a general overview of the Court, hitting on a few select hot topics. There will be an opportunity for Q & A.

The Honorable Andre G. Bouchard was sworn in as Chancellor of the Court of Chancery on May 5, 2014. Before his appointment, Chancellor Bouchard spent twenty-eight years in private practice in Wilmington, Delaware, most recently as the managing partner of a corporate and commercial litigation boutique he founded in 1996. Before forming his own firm, Chancellor Bouchard served as a corporate litigator in the Delaware office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Chancellor Bouchard spent most of his youth in Delaware, graduating from Salesianum School in 1979. He received his B.A. summa cum laude from Boston College in 1983, where he was the recipient of the Edward H. Finnegan Award, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1986. He was selected as a Harry S. Truman Scholar from Delaware in 1981.
