Amanda Freeman founded SLT in 2011 after discovering the workout concept on a trip to Los Angeles. Although already running her own company – daily health and wellness newsletter Vital Juice – she decided to bring the workout to the East Coast. The first iteration of the company – with Amanda as a minority partner – failed, she decided to pursue the business herself.
After bootstrapping the business for five years, Amanda took on investment from private equity firm North Castle Partners. Since then, SLT has grown to 24 studios in six states, including the company’s Philadelphia location.
In addition to SLT, Amanda is the co-founder of Stretch*d, a new studio in New York City focusing exclusively on stretching. She has been an angel investor in businesses including The Wing and Carbon 38. She is a graduate of HBS and of Duke University.
