PROFILES OF THE BOARD 

Heather Aspras, President, (WG’08). Heather is currently working in marketing at GlaxoSmithKline. Previously, she was in the Marketing Management Rotational Program at Merck. At Wharton, she was in the Health Care Management Program. She joined the Wharton Club of Philadelphia right after graduation and has enjoyed volunteering for the Club, meeting other interesting fellow alumni, and exploring the Philadelphia region. In her spare time, Heather enjoys doing yoga and playing her guitar.


Gloria Rabinowitz, (WG ‘78) is Immediate Past President, Wharton Alumni Club of Philadelphia and has served on the Board for over seven years in various roles including Programming Chair. She enjoys connecting Wharton Alums in the Philadelphia region to each other, to the school and larger business community. She founded her own technology consulting company, GCM Group LLC, after over 20 years with the DuPont Company, and is Managing Director, Golden Seeds Angel Forum here in Philadelphia. www.goldenseeds.com.


Madlyn Powell, VP Programming - Finance and Accounting Cert. ’04. She is a finance and accounting professional and joined the Club to help bring worthwhile events to fellow Club members. It is a great pleasure in providing cost effective cultural/intellectual events to her fellow Club members.


Mary Keefe, VP & University Liaison - (MBA'81), a Partner at MGA Partners Architects in Philadelphia has been a Board Member of the Wharton Club of Philadelphia since 1998. She has been engaged in University Liaison initiatives, most recently for the Office of Admissions.

Ms. Keefe directs the Strategic Planning and Development of the architecture firm, a high profile design firm with a strong portfolio in institutional projects, such as the Hamilton Village Residences at the University of Pennsylvania; the Children's Museum of the Desert in Rancho Mirage, CA; the new US Federal Courthouse in Lynchburg, VA and the new plan for the Centennial District of Philadelphia.


Justin O'Malley, VP & Treasurer. Justin is a Private Banker with J.P. Morgan in the Philadelphia office. He brings over 15 years of experience in the high net worth advisory business, with jobs at Morgan Stanley, Avalon Advisors, Goldman Sachs, and Accenture. Justin serves on the board of BLOCS (Business Leaders Organized for Catholic Schools), was selected to be a member of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Leaders Circle, and also serves on the Friends of Cristo Rey High School board. Justin was also recently named one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” Award Winners. Justin was born and raised in Doylestown, and resides in Swarthmore with his wife Heather Nardone, and their young sons, Jackson and Connor. In his spare time he enjoys running, cooking, and playing golf.


Charles S. Marion, VP Alumni Networking Breakfast (W ’86). Chuck is a Partner at the law firm of Pepper Hamilton LLP in Philadelphia, where he practices primarily in the areas of complex business litigation, intellectual property litigation (including patent and trademark infringement cases and trade secret disputes), franchise litigation, securities litigation and product liability. Chuck has been active in the Club’s Center City Leads Council and looks forward to getting further involved in the Club. His hobbies include tennis, music (he plays the piano and guitar) and travel.


Brooke Hayes, VP Membership.  Mr. Hayes is a Partner at Milestone Partners.  His primary responsibilities include being a deal team leader, a portfolio company oversight team leader and a member of the firm’s investment committee. He is also in charge of oversight and policy enforcement with respect to the firm’s investment evaluation and approval process. He also works with the CFO on financial management matters.

Prior to joining Milestone as a Vice President in 2002, Mr. Hayes worked at JPMorgan H&Q where he completed a variety of M&A, equity and debt transactions as an Associate in the Investment Banking Group in San Francisco and New York. Before joining JPMorgan H&Q, Mr. Hayes worked for the Stratum Group in New York where he analyzed and invested in numerous middle market transactions utilizing senior and mezzanine capital. Mr. Hayes also worked for First Fidelity Bank as a Financial Analyst. Mr. Hayes has a B.S. in Economics and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. 


Lori Rosenthal, VP Career & Leadership - (WG'80) Strategic HR Business Partner began with Marketing, then migrated to Human Resources. Although having left the Philadelphia area for stints in California, Texas and North Jersey, she never lost the commitment to share Wharton and Penn with everyone. After undergraduate studies at Wharton, an MBA was earned at Lehigh University and an MA in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University. Additionally, she also holds Senior Professional in Human Resources, SPHR, Lifetime Certification and the newly introduced Society for Human Resources Management – Senior Certified Professional, SHRM-SCP, certification. She is currently on the Tri-State HRMA Executive Board, Chairman of the Diversity Committee and Founding Champion of their Mentoring Program.


Sarah Hammer - VP Wharton Women's Network -  is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, teaching an upper-level juris doctor course on the transformation of the financial sector. She is also a veteran financial services leader who has held various positions at the Vanguard Group, PIMCO, JP Morgan Chase, BlackRock, and Tudor Investments. Ms. Hammer is also a licensed attorney and a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. While in law school, she worked for the Honorable Michael M. Baylson in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Honorable Justice Jane Cutler Greenspan at the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and in the finance practice at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in New York. Ms. Hammer earned a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a master of studies from Oxford University. She is a Harry S. Truman Scholar, and she has lived and/or worked in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan.


Akshay K. Khanna, VP Young Alumni (WG’15, L'15). Akshay is currently the Director of Strategy for the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils/Prudential Center. Prior to business school, Akshay spent four years in private equity, first at Audax Group in Boston and then with Sycamore Partners in New York City. At Wharton, Akshay co-founded the Wharton Sports Business Club and was a Leonard Lauder Fellow. He joined the Wharton Club of Philadelphia right after graduation and has enjoyed interacting with the Club's young alumni in the Greater Philadelphia region. Akshay graduated magna cum laude with an AB from Middlebury College and currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at Northwestern University's School of Professional Studies. He has been published in The Wharton School's Digital Press and serves on the National Executive Committee for Minds Matter, an education non-profit based out of New York City.


Sarah E. Frew, PhD, MBA, VP Sponsorship (WG'   ) has spent her career working to advance healthcare from all angles, including academic research, healthcare investing and the biopharmaceutical industry. Currently she is Managing Partner of Go Far Advisors, which provides advisory services to life sciences companies, investors, and leading academic scientists to maximize the value of breakthrough advances. Previously, Sarah was Director of Corporate Contracts and Alliances at the Penn Center for Innovation at the University of Pennsylvania where she identified commercial partnerships for the University’s research programs.  As Director of Business and Commercial Development at TetraLogic Pharmaceuticals, Sarah played an integral role in the company’s M&A and financing transactions, including the company’s initial public offering on Nasdaq. Dr. Frew has a PhD in cancer biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University. Sarah was a member of Wharton’s Healthcare Management Program and also president of the Scotch Club. She enjoys getting to know the diverse group of Wharton alumni living of Philadelphia through her participation in the Wharton Club.


Cindy Shaw, VP Sponsorship (Marketing Certificate '12).  Cindy is Director of The Haverford Fund at The Haverford School, a college preparatory day school for boys, pre-k to 12. Each year, she works with more than 200 alumni and parent volunteers to raise close to $2M of additional unrestricted operating support for the school. When Cindy isn’t asking someone to make a gift, you’ll find her reading, running, baking, or cheering for her sons at VEX Robotics competitions. After completing marketing courses at Wharton, Cindy became customer-obsessed. In 2014, she earned her Certified Customer Experience Professional (CCXP) credential and joined the Customer Experience Professionals Association (CXPA). Cindy is especially interested in customer lifetime value (CLV), the customer behavior models that are used to forecast individual CLV, and how forward-looking CLV estimates can help non-profit organizations refine their customer acquisition, retention, and development strategies.


Lauren Matise, VP Chief of Staff (WG ’14). Lauren is currently in Worldwide Business Development at GlaxoSmithKline. She has held various marketing roles at GSK and previously worked at NextGxDx, a genetic testing start-up. Lauren serves on the Wake Forest University National Alumni Council and helps to coordinate the Wake Forest Philadelphia Alumni Club. She has also started volunteering at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation that provides pediatric cancer research funding. Lauren enjoys all things Italian, travel, cooking and playing the piano and tennis. 


Param Sreekanth, Board Member at Large - (WG’96). Param is currently in Global Business Development, DuPont Company. He joined the Club to stay connected to Wharton and make a contribution to other Wharton alumni by volunteering. He enjoys working with the current Board of Directors.


Greg Townsend, Board Member at Large - (WG ’85). Greg is currently Business Development Director with Chemours, leading efforts to redevelop Chemours’ former operating sites for new commercial and industrial uses. Previously, he held business and financial leadership roles with DuPont's venture investing, technology licensing, Protection Technologies (Kevlar®, Tyvek®), and Packaging and Industrial Polymers businesses. He has served on the Wharton Club of Philadelphia Board since 2005.


Jared Weiner, Board Member at Large - (WG’07) Jared stayed in Philadelphia after many of his fellow MBA’s left. Following graduation, He joined WC Philadelphia. In addition to making a number of close friends and business contacts, he commented it has been wonderful to give something back to Wharton and his fellow alums through planning events and becoming active in the Club. He looks forward to seeing you at future events!
