Introducing Rachel Cervantes, WEMBA’11
Rachel Cervantes is a Director of Corporate Business Development at the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., Inc., one of the largest global pharmaceutical companies headquartered in Whitehouse Station, NJ. Rachel's professional career began as a Ph.D. cancer researcher first in Houston and then at the Salk Institute of Biological Sciences in San Diego. She then moved to Merck's site northeast of Philadelphia where she has had increasing roles of responsibility from portfolio management to global marketing through to her current role in the business development group. She gives due credit to the role her Wharton education and network played in her career and enjoys helping others in the same capacity.
Rachel applies that same education and training when volunteering at her daughters' school and as an adjunct member of the Wharton Development Committee. She values the time spent with her family and hopes her work with the Wharton Women's Network of Philadelphia will help her send a strong message to both her daughters about the important role women play in today's business environment.
