Topic Summary
There are interesting entrepreneurial opportunities that have arisen as a result of impending federal cap and trade legislation in the United States and the proliferation of regional trading programs. The combination of market inefficiencies, information asymmetry and lack of capital has created a vacuum where opportunities exist.
During this presentation, J. Womack will outline the current state of the global and US carbon market, correlate current developments with opportunities in the alternative energy space and outline some interesting, non-traditional business opportunities that exist as a result. From carbon offset project development to the more involved business of carbon finance, he will give an overview of business models that are critical to the success of the transition to a ‘low-carbon’ economy.
