In 1997, the U.S. unemployment rate had fallen to a 27 year low of 4.9% and McKinsey’s coined term of “War for Talent” described the challenges that organizations had with attracting and retaining staff. Fast forward to 2010’s global unemployment situation and many wonder if the “War for Talent” is still relevant. To hear some of the latest perspectives on talent management and what it could mean for you in the coming years, please join us on March 18th, 2010 for an exciting dialogue with the following scheduled panelists.

Bridgespan: David Simms is a Bridgespan partner and Head of Bridgestar. Bridgestar’s mission is to increase the flow of passionate and highly skilled senior leaders into and within nonprofit organizations. Mr. Simm’s prior senior leadership experiences include MBNA America, Bain and Company, Red Cross Blood Services, and a White House Fellowship. Mr. Simms’ board memberships have included Opportunity International, the University of Pennsylvania and the Harvard Business School Club of Philadelphia. Mr. Simms holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School where he graduated with distinction. As an undergraduate, he earned a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Applied Science from Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. He graduated from Penn summa cum laude, and was elected Phi Beta Kappa.

Heidrick & Struggles: Howard Levine is a Principal with the organization’s Philadelphia office. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Levine was Vice President of Human Resources for Merck Research Laboratories where he spent seven of the last 30 years of his career with Merck & Co. Inc. He joined Merck as a senior chemist and then moved into human resources where he over time was responsible for several of the company's global HR functions. Before joining Merck, Mr. Levine worked at National Starch and Chemical Corp., Interstate Container Corporation , and the New York City Board of Education. Mr. Levine holds a bachelors degree in chemistry from Rutgers College, a masters in organic chemistry from Creighton University and an MBA from Rider College.

Korn/Ferry: Jeffrey Wierichs is a Senior Client Partner in the firm’s NYC office. Prior to joining the organization, Mr. Wierichs was a Senior Partner with Heidrick & Struggles, where he served as a Senior Partner in the firm’s Life Sciences/Health Care Practice and specialized in recruiting senior-level executives in general management, supply chain, human resources, and marketing and sales for a broad range of life sciences organizations, from startups to multinational corporations. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wierichs served as vice president of sales and marketing for Time Warner. He also held divisional and national sales management and marketing positions with ConAgra, RJR Nabisco and Procter & Gamble. Mr. Wierichs earned his bachelor's degree in American studies and theology from St. John's University, and serves on the board of trustees of the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in Villanova, Pennsylvania.

Spencer Stuart: Jeff Constable is a Consultant in the organization’s Philadelphia office, where he focuses primarily on financial officer and strategy assignments in the financial services and business services sectors. Prior to entering the executive search industry Mr. Constable held positions at the Corporate Executive Board, NationsBank (now Bank of America) and The Haverford School. He serves on the board of directors of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, a nonprofit public policy research and development organization. Mr. Constable holds a degree in mathematics from Duke University and an M.B.A. with distinction from the University of Michigan.

The cost of this event is $20 for HBSCP Basic and PBC members and their guests. It is free to Patrons and Sponsor members as well as one Sponsor's guest.
